    Films!! Link to this post

Right guys, what's on at the moment? There's gotta be some good films coming out... even on DVD...

I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind again the other night - I love how every time I see it I pick up something else from it, it's such a sweet film.

And The Beach. Saw that again last week and it made me want to go back to Thailand again, it's so weird seeing somewhere so familiar on the screen like that!! I love how dark the film is, and brooding, almost in a Heart of Darkness kind of a way, and the beautiful scenery and kinda paradise-is-a-savage-thing kinda feel to it... mmm.

Gosh there are some goodies around.

I think I'll see Hancock tomorrow. Or now the new Batman one's out I'm keen to see that, though prepared for tears over poor old Heathy... how I loved that man. Boo.

The Dark Knight is very, very good. Heath Ledger definitely earned himself an Oscar nod here. Christian Bale turned out an excellent performance as our title hero, but Heath stole the show. More's the pity that it had to be both a first and a last for him.

The Spirit looks like it's going to be a worthwhile film to watch. It doesn't have much of a buzz, but at least it'll look good and have an interesting storyline. Scarlett Johansson sizzles, as does Eva Mendez. Looking forward to seeing Samuel L. Jackson in a bad guy role again. He makes a great baddie.

Twilight will be sure to pull the teenagers in. Romance, the supernatural (in this case, vampires), and teenage angst will make for a potent mix. I've seen pre-gripes about the movie not being 100% faithful to the book, but I feel readers are simply not being realistic about time and budget constraints. Robert Pattinson (from Harry Potter fame) does a great job as Edward.

If the trailer is any indication of quality, Watchmen is going to be a stunner. Slick, sexy, and every bit as intense as the comics. Unfortunately it's not due out until early 2009, so I've got a long wait ahead of me.

I went and saw P.S. I Love You at the beginning of the year and then bought the dvd as soon as it was out. It is a lovely movie but it is a chick flick through and through. It is also much better to watch it in a movie like atmosphere, silence and darkness, so you can get pulled into the story better.

Mama Mia is very light hearted and I recommend watching it in a good mood otherwise it would just seem silly. I didn't like what they did to Colin Firth's character though, after growing up knowing him as Mr Darcy it just didn't feel right to me.

Get Smart was surprisingly funny, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did.

I have not seen alot of movies this year, but the two memorable ones were

Rudy, the Rudy Giuliani story. -- This movie is the story behind Giuliani the Mayor of New York during the attacks on the twin towers. The only problem i had with this movie, was it failed to capture the atmosphere.

    The other

Naked Brothers Band: Polar Bears -- This movie concluded the second season of the show, and was a far better attempt than that the ended season one. Most disappointing was it failed to really push the environmental message i was expecting from it. Most pleasing was the music and the acting of the band and the other young people.

Everyone should see 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind', 'Science Of Sleep', and 'Donnie Darko'.

    Hey...
I recently saw Juno, wow that is a cool film. Very random but i like it! especially the hambuger phone! lol

Also the Edge of Love with keira Knightly in it! I saw that and it was amazing, to me i think it makes people aware of what happens to those who go to war and how things change and its just an amazing movie! its a must SEE!
