When I was a kid, dinosaurs were the coolest. And one of the reasons for that was (and still is) Steven Spielberg's classic, Jurassic Park.
The movie may be getting on in years but it's still amazing.
Starring NZ's own Sam Neill, Jurassic Park is about a theme park located on a remote island.
But not just any theme park... this one has (holy crap) REAL DINOSAURS!
After creating the dinos using genetic modification and a DNA sample from a prehistoric mozzie, the park's founder John Hammond inhabits the island with the dinos.
He then flies top palaeontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and his partner Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) to the island.
Things go wrong when the park's computer operator shuts down the electric fences in an attempt to steal dino embryos.
The dangerous dinos break free, and it's then up to our heroes to save the day and escape from the island in one piece.
Filled with cinematic genius, this movie is our generation's Jaws or ET.
From the acting and special effects to John Williams' timeless theme music, Jurassic Park will remind you why dinosaurs are cool.
